Wizard World Chicago 2009 Scavenger Hunt Challenge!
Submitted by halgardner on Fri, 08/07/2009 - 01:23Since I wasn't quick enough to score a pass to Comic-Con, given that it sold out two months beforehand, and that I can't afford to make it back to Chicago to attend Wizard World with Darius and Blake, I submit my challenge to the dynamic duo. A scavenger hunt. The items don't have to be purchased, there just needs to be photo/video evidence of each of them. I also haven't made the list too huge, as I am sure the two of you have plenty of things on your own agendas for this year's convention. Just thought it would be a fun little addition to the ITM excursion.

This week's cartoon caption contest is just BEGGING for a Lost reference
Submitted by Blake on Thu, 07/30/2009 - 12:02I saw this week's New Yorker cartoon caption contest and thought: Doesn't this just set itself up perfectly for a Lost reference? Here's a few off the top of my head:
- "The last thing I remember is a flash of white."
- "Are you with Widmore or Linus? Nevermind, you look great, got any beer?"
- "Let me guess, this isn't 2004.
Okay then, WHEN is this?" - "I know, I know, you have a thing for Sawyer. But he's not here, is he?"
- "I've been trying to get back on this island for 30 years. Turns out I could just air mail myself here."
- "You look just like her."
- "I'll put suntan lotion on you in 5 minutes. I gotta finish up building this new station: The Box."
- "You call this a coffin?! I'm glad I'm not really dead, this thing blows."
- "But I have to float around the world in this box to impress your father."
- "What do you mean you thought Jughead is in the box? It's not here now!"
Can you think of any? Let us know! You can leave a comment here, a collection of them would be great. Or through twitter (@intothemantle). It's definitely fun to think of them.
Note: I'm planning to submit one to the New Yorker, though probably one that is a little easier for even non-fans to swallow. These here can just be for us Lost geeks :)
Tip: If you're submitting to the New Yorker, something I've found is that the winning caption is usually phrased as if it's a response to what another character has said, similar to 7, 9, and 10 above.
